Dragons in Second Life

As a Demon, I have nasty looking creatures in my inventory, ready to transform me into a more hideous looking monster. But of those creatures, I like wearing a dragon skin avatar. I have two kinds of dragons skins, a "cute and darling" little one, as Cheyenne affectionately calls me, and a brute looking dragon than can be ridden upon.

The little dragon is slightly taller than a human avatar, but can dance and hug. I can flicker my tongue to kiss, open my jaws to wide, gape, and close. And the same for the eyes. It has wings that flap and animate when you fly, and comes in 4 colors, green, white, blue, and my favorite is red. Last, I can hurl out fire from my mouth.

The other dragon can be ridden upon, and twice the size of cute red. I had my daughter Gaia, and her sister each take turns on my back to pose for pictures. It comes with a saddle, and the walk and flap animations is good. It being a bigger dragon, just be aware it takes a lot of space, and some simulations in SL ban the use of big avatars, so read the rules of the sims your on. Or get an unexpected ejection from the location, or being banned all together.

Two places I recommend, if you want to wear a dragon skin avatar, along with your demon (smiles) avatar in your inventory.

Grendal's Children - a wide selection of specialty avatars, from animals, dinosaurs, mystical creatures, and monsters. It has two levels for each color of Red, Blue, Gold, and Green floors. Expect to spend some time there, and know how to control yourself from needing and having to buy on the spot. The skins there are well made and nicely priced.

The Dancing Dragons can be found on the humanoid section, sorry I cant remember the color of the floor its on, but their is a directory right where you teleported in, so that should help you get started to where it's located.

The mall is up in the sky, but don't worry, your Av wont fall, unless you want to. And you want to visit the sim below the mall. Its a dry landscape, and lots of places to explore and see. I found a water fall that is peaceful and quite.

The other nice place to visit is the Isle of Wyrms, which has a more pricey selection of dragons. But I think its also worth the cost, because the dragons are bigger, and some can walk on the walls. Which totally caught me by surprise. I was lucky being in dragon form when I stopped by that day. My dragon looked like a teen compared to the elder dragon. It was huge, and came from the ceiling, walking down the walls. It stared at me for awhile. I said my salutations, but it did not say a word, and walked away. Glad it decided to leave me alone.

Inside the Cathedral of Dragons, there is a center piece displaying all the various kinds of dragons. I liked the 3 headed Hydra, but I did not see it for sell there. The Cathedral is the only place at the sim to buy dragon skins, so when you teleport in go directly inside. They also have a market that sells various skins, and other items as well. You need to get there by using the island's teleports to various points of interests.

For your information, dragons during the medieval period, was synonymous as being the devil incarnate. There are alot of frescos and paintings depicting saints and knights doing battles against dragons. In defense of the maiden's godly virtues of purity and innocence, against the dragon's greed for treasures, destruction of properties and crops, spreading of disease, various vices, use of magick, and fornicating with helpless women. And it worked for a time. Too bad the Catholic Church did not see itself as the dragon, but that's for another time.

Enjoy the dragons skins, even though the male personality was built in the design of these Av, I think women can enjoy wearing them also. I only knew of one female dragon skin, sold on the Isle of Wyrms. I hope designers keep you ladies in mind for cool female dragon skins in the future.

  1. Sounds like I found another form to take! The elder dragon sounds awesome! There is also the catholic story of "St. George and the Dragon" Lots of paintings done on that as well. Its very high in Greek Orthodox I think. Wo wouldn't want to sleep all day, have hoards of treasure, and devour helpless maidens? Sounds like heaven to me.
